American Cast Iron Pipe Receives National Awards for Employment Practices
American Cast Iron Pipe Company (AMERICAN) has received the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award in recognition of workplace practices promoting employee well-being and organizational performance. The national award was presented to the company in ceremonies held in Washington, D.C., on March 6.

Smith Named to Succeed Haugen as President of Waterous Company
William L. Smith has been named president and CEO of Waterous Company effective Nov. 1, 2009. Waterous, headquartered in South St. Paul, Minn., is a subsidiary of American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO), based in Birmingham, Ala. Smith succeeds Donald J. Haugen, who will retire Dec. 31, 2009.

ACIPCO Explorers Kick-off Meeting Tues., Sept. 22
The ACIPCO Engineering Explorers Post will hold an orientation/engineering preview meeting Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at ACIPCO plant headquarters, 1501 31st Ave. North in Birmingham. The Engineering Explorers Post is open to high school young men and women, grades 9 through 12, who are interested in learning more about a career in engineering. ACIPCO has been sponsoring the program for 32 consecutive years.
